The present collection comprises approximately 160 works from the Golikov family - one of the defining dynasties of Palekh lacquer miniature painting - and represents a rare opportunity to engage with material that has remained outside the open market.
The group includes lacquer miniatures, paintings, drawings, preparatory sketches, and archival materials, offering a layered and intimate view of Palekh’s artistic tradition across several generations.
Of particular importance is the collection’s direct association with Ivan Ivanovich Golikov (1886-1937), one of the founding figures of the Artel of Ancient Painting established in 1924, widely regarded as the origin for Palekh lacquer miniature as an art form.
A significant portion of the works is by Yuri Nikolaevich Golikov, continuing the family’s artistic legacy, alongside works by other masters closely connected to the Golikov circle.
Spanning subjects from Russian fairy tales and epic narratives to genre scenes and original compositions, the collection also includes rare preparatory drawings and study materials, providing insight into the creative process behind Palekh’s refined visual language.
