25TH INFANTRY DIVISION FLAG
Fantastic divisional flag from the 25th Infantry Division, 52 x 36 in., presumed Korean War or Vietnam War-era, constructed of two horizontal bars of red and purple rayon, with a sewn-on insignia at center. The hoist edge bears a sewn-in white rope, while the other edges are lined with crosshatched tan rope and 4 in. fringe. No maker's marks present. Very small spots of staining, with one slight tear to one side, else fine condition and quite presentable. The 25th Division, based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, was activated on 1 October 1941 in Hawaii, slightly more than a month before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. After spending almost a year training, it fought in the Guadalcanal Campaign then in the invasion of Luzon on January 1945, and in the Occupation of Japan after its surrender. It has since served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan.
