KRIEGSMARINE FLAK DIVISION 214 PRESENTATION DOCUMENT BOX
Finely-crafted wood document box bearing upon the top lid the hand-carved name of the Kriegsmarine Flak Division 214, and the emblem of the German city of Cuxhaven, where the division was stationed. The inside of this hinged lid bears inset wood initials 'A.S.', those of the owner of the box, Korvettenkapitän M.A. der Reserve Alfons Steinrücke who commanded the base from August, 1944 until its surrender. The very sturdy box measures 19.25 x 11.5 x 5.75 in. and is in good conditions, separating very slightly at a few joints. This flak division was responsible for the defense of Cuxhaven, and especially the V1 rockets were flown from Altenwalde. In 1945, construction started on a launch pad for testing A4-rockets nearby, as a replacement for Stand VII in Peenemunde.
