21 Karat Early 20th Century Mughal Style Ruby Necklace
a finely decorated necklace with multi-color enamel in a peacock design on the reverse of the gold segments. On the front of the plaques are containing numerous round and oval shape, cabochon and faceted natural unheated rubies. The rubies display the typical fluorescence of natural ruby mined from the traditional sources in northern Burma (the Mogok region of modern day Myanmar). The segments of the necklace are strung together with five strands of natural seed pearls, the two largest pearls each measure approximately 5.2 mm in diameter. The largest natural ruby in the clasp measures 7.0 x 5.8 mm.
