Large Chinese Plate Designated for the Islamic Market, Decorated w/ Quran Passages, End of Ming Dynasty, End of 16th to Beginning of 17th century
Spectacular Chinese item designated for a very small market segment, and therefore very rare.
A large-sized plate with different inscriptions to its length, surrounding the plate's interior, taken from Quran passages, and additional Islamic inscriptions, Allah's name is can be noticed to be written 8 times between the 8 passages written along the plate.
End of Ming Dynasty, end of 16th to beginning of 17th century,
chip to the plate's lip and an abrasion of the pattern typical of the item's age.
