AN EXCEPTIONAL GERMAN HUNTING DOUBLE GRIP SWORD
The blade of this enormous hunting sword is forged in Medieval style with slogan in Latin "vive le roi" (long live the king) made with gold inlay on both sides. Large bronze cast crossguard with quillons as deer heads and spherical chiseled pommel are gilt. The grip is made of wood warped with twisted copper wire. This sword (hirschfanger) dates to the second half of the 19th century. It is a truly exceptional piece in a very good condition.
