A PAIR OF RUSSIAN KORNILOV BROTHER PORCELAIN PLATES
A pair of Russian porcelain dessert plates from the Kornilov Brothers factory, Russian Empire, St. Petersburg, circa 1903. The borders of the plates are adorned with ornaments after the original illustrations by Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942) for the publication, Russian Folk Tales, published by the Expedition of Procurement of State Papers in 1901-1903. The pattern is applied to the plates using the technology of overglaze polychrome printing. The sides of the plates are decorated with gilding. Marked with overglaze printing manufacturer's stamp on verso. One plate is numbered 245 on the back.
