INDIAN NEPALI GURKHA KURKI DAGGER WITH A SCABBARD

A vintage Nepali India made Gurkha Kurki or Khukuri dagger with a leather scabbard. A figural metal pommel with a lions head. Composite or horn hand grip inlaid with metal accents and rivets. Comes in a leather belt scabbard. The blade on one side has been engraved. The kukri is a type of machete originating from the Indian subcontinent and is traditionally associated with the Nepali speaking Gurkhas of Nepal. The knife has a distinct recurve in its blade. It serves multiple purposes as a melee weapon and also as a regular cutting tool throughout most of South Asia. The blade has traditionally served the role of a basic utility knife for the Gurkhas. The kukri is the national weapon of Nepal, and consequently is a characteristic weapon of the Nepalese Army. Circa: first half of the 20th century. Indian Oriental Weapons, Ammunition, and Collectibles.

Dimensions: Length in case 17" in. All measurements are approximate.
