RUSSIAN SOVIET PAINTING BY ALEXANDRA YAKUSHEVA
Alexandra Yakusheva, Russian, 1900 to 1986, oil on cardboard portrait painting depicting Comrad Borin, Combine Operator. Signed, dated 1939, and titled on verso. Alexandra Ivanovna Yakusheva, a Soviet painter and graphic artist, is known for her genre paintings, portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. Studied at VKhuTEMAS and then at VKhuTEIN as a student of S. Gerasimov, A. Drevin, R. Falk. Participated in exhibitions since 1928. The lot comes from the collection of Viktor Kholodkov, a renowned art dealer and collector who devoted his life to collecting prominent works of Russian artists of the 20th century.
