RUSSIAN SOVIET PAINTING BY AMINADAV KANEVSKIY
Aminadav Kanevsky, Russian, 1898 to 1976, collage on paper with a coalminer photo in the middle. Signed lower right. Circa the 1960s. Aminadav Moiseevich Kanevsky, a Soviet satirist, graphic artist, illustrator, and cartoonist, was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Peoples Artist of the RSFSR and the USSR, Academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Studied with Nikolai Kupreyanov, Dmitry Moor, Pavel Pavlinov, and Vladimir Favors. The author of the famous image of Murzilka, illustrations for children's books. The lot comes from the collection of Viktor Kholodkov, a renowned art dealer and collector who devoted his life to collecting prominent works of Russian artists of the 20th century.
