RUSSIAN SOVIET PAINTING BY VSEVOLOD SAKHNOVSKY
Vsevolod Sakhnovsky, Russian, 1903 to 1989, gouache, watercolor, and pencil on paper theatre costume design. Signed lower right. Vsevolod Vladimirovich Sakhnovsky participated in the Blue Blouse, an influential agitprop theatre troupe, mainly working on theatrical stage and costume designs. Sakhnovsky also created numerous playbills and posters for the Blue Blouse performances and extensively worked on designs of the group printed production. The lot comes from the collection of Viktor Kholodkov, a renowned art dealer and collector who devoted his life to collecting prominent works of Russian artists of the 20th century.
