ANTIQUE RUSSIAN PAINTING ATTR TO ARKHIP KUINDZHI
Attributed to Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi, 1841 - 1910. Russian. An oil study on wood board of a part of the famous painting by Arkhip Kuindzhi, Evening in Ukraine, 1878. Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi was a landscape painter of Pontic Greek descent. Studied at Hovhannes Aivazovskys studio in Theodosia and worked as a retoucher in Mariupol, Odesa, and St. Petersburg. Traveled across Russia and the Ukraine, Caucasus, and Crimea. Kuindzhi was a member of the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions and a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts.
