AFTER WINTERHALTER OIL PAINTING PORTRAIT SIGNED
An oil painting on board after the original oil painting on canvas, Princess Alice (1843-78), later Grand Duchess of Hesse, 1861 by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, German, 1805 to 1873. Signed by the artist, S. Kendall, lower right. Attributed to William Sergeant Kendall, American, 1869 to 1938. Framed. Franz Xaver Winterhalter was a German painter and lithographer, known for his flattering portraits of royalty and upper class society in the mid 19th century. William Sergeant Kendall was an American painter, most famous for his scenes of domestic life. One of a kind artwork.
