A beautiful mid 19th century Russian Orthodox icon depicting St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with selected saints. Saint Nicholas is depicted frontally half-figured wearing bishop’s clothes, blessing with his right hand and holding open Gospels with his left one. Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary offering a bishop’s omofor are shown behind him. Wood, gesso, tempera, gilding. Inscribed in Russian on the back. Russian Orthodox Icons, Antiques And Collectibles.
