ANTIQUE GERMAN GOTHA PORCELAIN FIGURINES C 1805
A pair of early 19th century blanc de chine porcelain figurines by Gotha Porcelain Factory. The figurines are representing a gentleman and a lady holding an openwork basket, adorned with highly detailed floral garlands. One figurine features an incised mark g 191, on the bottom. German, circa 1805. Gotha Porcelain Factory was founded by Wilhelm Theodor von Rotberg, the first to operate in Thuringia, Germany. In 1772 there were only 12 workers, but in that year two painters were taken on, as well as a modeller. The factory made tea- and coffee-services, dinner-services, vases, baskets and figures.
