SPHINX BRONZE TABLE SCULPTURES ON MARBLE STANDS
A pair of antique European table bronze sculptures. The sculptures depict a sphinx or a sphinga, a Greek creature with the head of a woman, the paws and body of a lion, the wings of an eagle and the tail of a bull, a character in the legend of Oedipus. The sculptures are adorned with engraved detailed patterns. Mounted on marble stands with four gilt bronze legs. The legs are made in the shape of a lion paw with the wings of an eagle.
