RUSSIAN PAINTING ATTRIBUTED TO KAZIMIR MALEVICH
Watercolor painting on paper attributed to Kazimir Malevich, 1879 to 1935, was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist. The artwork is a cover sketch for the poetry collection Troye, The Three, by futurist artists Velimir Khlebnikov, Alexei Kruchyonykh, and Elena Guro. Dated 1913. The book was published by the Crane Publishing House in Saint Petersburg, circulation of 500 copies. A copy of the final cover design is attached to the backside of the frame. Kruchonykh and Malevich also worked together for the Victory Over the Sun opera, the set design of which featured the first Black Square. Russian Abstract Graphic Art, Antiquarian Collectibles.
