RUSSIAN ATTR TO VASIL VERESHCHAGIN OIL PAINTING
Attributed to Vasily Vereshchagin, Russian, 1842 to 1904, oil painting on board depicting a lake landscape, 1894. Signed with initials and dated lower right. Framed. Vasily Vasilyevich Vereshchagin was one of the most famous Russian war artists and one of the first Russian artists to be widely recognized abroad. The graphic nature of his realist scenes led to many of them never being printed or exhibited. Russian historical painter and portrait painter, professor at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Acting State Councilor. One of a kind artwork.
