MID CENT OIL PAINTING OF SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES
Oil on canvas painting. Mid-20th century. The artwork depicts a Catholic saint with a broomstick in a hospital, with a dog and cat at his feet. Saint Martin de Porres Velazquez, 1579 to 1639, was a Peruvian lay brother of the Dominican Order who was canonized in 1962. He is the patron saint of mixed-race people, and public health workers. He was noted for his work on behalf of the poor, establishing an orphanage and a childrens hospital. Golden frame. Collectible Latin American Christian Fine Art.
