PAIR OF ANTIQUE 19 C ROYAL VIENNA PORCELAIN URNS
An antique 19th century pair of Royal Vienna porcelain vases or lidded urns. Superior hand painted gold decoration surrounding the cartouche with playing putti on each side, features large twin gold curved handles supported by lion masks. Each lid with a flame style finial. Signed underglaze with a blue Royal Vienna shield on the underside. Note: Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, a porcelain manufacturer in Alsergrund in Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 1718 and continued until 1864. The firm was Europes second-oldest porcelain factory after Meissen Porcelain. Initially, it was a private enterprise, founded by Claude du Paquier, an official of the Viennese Imperial court, but in 1744 it was bought by Empress Maria Theresa, and thereafter remained an asset of the emperors.
