Bella Matveeva, Russian, born 1962, collage mixed media painting on canvas depicting a portrait of a semi nude woman and black and white photographs depicting the portraits of women. Signed, lower left. Bella Matveeva is a Russian artist and photographer of St. Petersburg neo academicism in the 1980s to 1990s, later a professor at the Department of Painting at the New Academy. Combines the aesthetics of the Leningrad underground and academic art. She creates photographs in which she transforms the subjects of classic paintings.
