INDIAN OIL PAINTING JINN AND GOAT ATTR MANJIT BAWA
Oil on canvas painting attributed to Manjit Bawa, 1941 to 2008, an Indian painter, student of Somnath Hore. Bawa is known for his distinctive use of color. The artwork depicts a man in a turban, a genie playing the flute, and a goat against the red background. Signed lower right. Undated. Jinn or genies are magical creatures present in Islamic culture and Eastern folklore. Livestock such as cows, goats, and bulls are an important subject for the artist, embodying the theme of the coexistence of all creatures. Collectible Contemporary Fine Art, Southeast Asian Artists.
