ANTIQUE DUTCH SCHOOL OIL PAINTING AFTER GERRIT DOU
An antique Dutch school oil painting on board, The Old Schoolmaster, after the original painting by Gerrit Dou, Dutch, 1613 to 1675. Unsigned. Circa: the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Framed. Gerrit Dou, also known as Gerard Douw or Dow, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, whose small, highly polished paintings are typical of the Leiden fijnschilders. He specialised in genre scenes and is noted for his niche paintings and candlelit night-scenes with strong chiaroscuro. He was a student of Rembrandt. One of a kind artwork.
Dimensions
Frame 16 1/4 x 14 3/4 in. Board 10 1/2 x 8 3/4 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Chips and cracks in frame. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
