Marginalia the Holy hand of the Gaon Rabbi Chizkiyahu Feivel Plaut of Surany on the Shulcan Aruch Chsohen Mispat.

Sefer Shulchan Aruch Chosen Mishpat, Lemberg 1860.

The Gaon Rabbi Chizkiyahu Feivel Plaut (1818-1895), was one of the most eminent talmidim of both the Chasam Sofer & the Ksav Sofer. He began studying in Yeshivas Chasam Sofer from a young age where he quickly garnered the respect of the Chasam Sofer himself, who personally looked after his well-being. And for a period served as a maggid shiur in the great Yeshiva of Pressburg.

Rabbi Chizkiya Feivel possessed tremendous admiration for his rabbi as well, and would rise at the mere mention of the Chasam Sofer's name. Rabbi Chizkiya mentions the Chasam Sofer multiple times throughout his sefer.

In 1849, he was appointed as Rav in the town of Surany. Although he was only 22 at the time of the Chasam Sofer’s passing, he remained bound to his great Rebbe, as reflected in his monumental sefer Likutei Chaver Ben Chaim published over a period of 15 years. Received with great acclaim, it remains a most fundamental sefer, containing a substantial amount of the Chasam Sofer’s Torah.
