Marco Antonio Bassetti (Verona 1586-1630), allegedly by, Portrait of man with beard holding a book. 65x55, Oil painting on canvas, in a 85x75 frame.
"A student of Felice Ricci (Verona 1539- 1605), he moved to Venice where he was influenced by the works of Tintoretto, Veronese and Jacopo Bassano, goes to Rome around 1615, and knows the paintings of Caravaggio. He returned to Vaenezia disclaims influences bassaniani and Romans and has only praise for the Venetian painting, especially for naturists. Orbit part of monasteries and convents (1628). in this period his most significant works are the portraits in which, in the opinion of Longhi (1959 ), is a value and a dignity Rembrandtian, such as to be able to measure with Hals and Velazquez.
