A RARE PANOPLY OF KHAZAR ARMS
The Khazar Empire, known in the Arab annals as Al Arsiya, ruled an enormous Turkic empire based in the Caucasus between the 7th-10th century. Comprising a characteristic pair of sabers, one for use on horseback, the other on foot, complete with guards, pommels and chapes, eight diverse arrowheads, circular shield mounts, a spearhead, dagger blade, war hammer/ axe combination, buckle, adze, stirrups, saddle mounts, and snaffle bit, all wrought of steel, a set of implements, a sharpening stone and a silvered horse’s head mount with aperture for plumes. 9th-10th century.
