AN OTTOMAN SHISHANA MUSKET
The select tiger-striped hardwood stock of characteristic form, elaborately inlaid with engraved silver appliques in baroque motifs overall. The miquelet lock with extensive gold inlay, the heavy octagonal barrel with ogival peepsight, and forged of actively pattern-welded damascus steel and finely inlaid with gold at the breech and muzzle, retained to the stock by silver bands. Mid-18th century. Substantial wear, chips to butt, losses, replacements. Overall length 108cm. Condition II
