Bryan Ryley "Poplar Point From Knox Mountain" Oil on Board. Framed. FMV of $4,000

Fair Market Value of $4,000.  This painting was generously donated by Kal and Maria Molnar from their private collection.

This is an original oil painting on board from Bryan Ryley titled "Poplar Point From Knox Mountain".

Bryan takes a procedural approach in abstract paintings that are disciplined, formal, and intellectual. The resultant works are vibrantly orchestrated harmonies of light and luscious colour with dynamic rhythms moving across the picture plane. He works in series, with an element in one, triggering a new exploration in the next. Bryan’s lyrical tones and richly textured colour is reminiscent of a classical modernist abstraction rooted in Cubist collage and Surrealist inspired abstraction. Throughout his artistic career, Bryan’s work has ranged back and forth among three media – painting, drawing, and collage. Bryan moved here and taught at the Okanagan University College in Kelowna, and at the renamed University of British Columbia Okanagan, after studies in at the University of Victoria, BC (BFA) and at the Pratt Institute in New York (MFA).

His work is shown nationally and internationally and can be found in many private, corporate and public collections including: the Canadian Consulate, Paris, France; Canada Council Art Bank, Ottawa; Pratt Institute, New York; BC Arts Collection, Victoria; Kelowna Art Gallery; Vernon Public Art Gallery; Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, Penticton; (corporate) Nordstrom, Canadian Pacific, Petro-Canada, Enbridge, Encana, Cenovus, Sun Life Financial, Brookfield Properties, Kelowna Public Art Gallery, Vernon Public Art Gallery; and Galley Odin, Silver Star Mountain. He has exhibited in Kelowna, Calgary, Vancouver and New York
