NEOCLASSICAL MANUFACTURE
Jug. Inspired by an archeological design.
Coated bronze. 23,5 x 11,5 x 9,5 cm
A pitcher Inspired by unknown archeological findings, perhaps Pompeian.
The ribbed, ovoidal amphora features a dragon-shaped handle, welded to the jug's body with two interwined dolphins.
Items such as this were designed for the Grand Tour and meant for the eyes of wealthy and cultured tourists enamored with classical antiquities. A fine taste born in the 1700s and well alive up until the first decades of the 1800s.
A finely crafted jug with an exquisite coating.
