Provenance: ambassador Gerardo Carante.
Born in Bandung, Java, Yan Suryana began his professional career as a painter in 1980. In 1986 he exhibited his works together with the famous Affandi. He traveled a lot in Europe, the United States and, above all, Indonesia, deciding to settle in Bali, in the village of Petulu near Ubud. His painting explores the daily life of the Balinese people, in a dense style of lively polychromy. His paintings have been exhibited in many countries of the world.
