Pair of important consoles with mirrors in lacquered and gilt wood, Piedmont, Louis XVI period
the crescent-shaped consoles with green and white marble tops; underlying band which follows the line of the plane, finely carved with a Greek design included within the upper profile with a sequence of leaves and the lower one with a twisted ribbon; fluted obelisk legs. The vertical mirrors differ in the rendering of some details and have a sculpted and perforated frame with leafy and flowered wreaths ideally supported by architectural bases; the cymatium is made up of a complex decorative system centered by an oval medallion in bas-relief on a blue background depicting an allegorical scene with winged cherubs delimited by two pinnacles on a base from which two leafy and flowered wreaths branch off and supported by a virile head flanked by two sphinxes: the decoration ends at the top in a projecting vase overflowing with flowers and leaves, the consoles: cm. 88x87x43.5; the mirrors: cm. 222.5x88 (slight defects)
