WWI US 3rd Infantry Div Purple Heart CdG Medal Lot
Lot of three medals to Pvt. Richard Pelham Jr., a member of Company C, 5th Field Signal Battalion in WWI. This battaion was attached to the 3d Infantry Division. The group includes his hand engraved split brooch Purple Heart medal (numbered 103901), WWI Victory medal with St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sector Bars, and a French Croix De Guerre with bronze star. Pelham was wounded in the Argonne on October 4, 1918 and received his Purple Heart Medal in 1935. He was a native of Fresno, California. The entire Battalion was awarded a French CdG with Star at the end of WWI.
