Published by Ahiasaf - Warsaw, printed by Schuldberg and his partner, 1855. First published in German in Die Welt. Place of the play: Vienna, 1893.
The play was written under the influence of the Dreyfus trial, which Herzl covered as a journalist. At the center of his plot is an assimilated Jewish lawyer who tries to get out of the social ghetto that was forced on Western Jews, but fails. His death at the end of the play was intended to serve as a warning that the plight of Western Jews was no longer tolerable. 63 pages, dimensions: about 20x18 cm

The cover is reinforced on the inside with adhesive strips, stains and inactive moth markers.
