Richard Alden Burt (1921-1997) Watercolor and gouache on paper, signed lower left "R. Alden Burt", piece measures 9.5 x 13.5 and 18 x 21 inches w/frame. Brought up in Thetford, living in the former Richard & Bathsheba Wallace house in Rice’s Mills, since destroyed by fire. His father had a duckpin factory nearby. He married Mary Elizabeth Emerson, and they built a house on Route 5 just north of East Thetford. Later in his life he lived in Enfield, N.H.Burt took courses in art education at Plymouth State College, and taught art at Cardigan Mountain School and other schools. He painted many landscapes of Thetford and nearby areas.
