Pair of Antique Lemaire Mother of Pearl Inlay and Brass Opera Glasses
These stunning antique brass opera glasses are decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays. They are marked with Lemair Paris on both pairs of eyepieces. One is handled while the other is not. The handled piece has no markings present while the un-handled piece reads Ladie Burns on the front nose piece. These two pieces are in good condition with some wear to the brass pieces in different areas. The un-handled glasses' eyepieces are slightly loose as well.
Jacques Lemaire began making opera glasses in 1847 and was soon a major manufacturer noted for using mechanization, division of labor, and interchangeable parts.
Handled pieces measuring H 10 W 2.25 inches fully extended, H 6.25 W 2.25 inches folded. Un-handled piece measuring H 3 W 4.25 inches.
