Late 19th Century Day Dress and Bodice. The group includes 1 antique c1890 bodice featuring a ribbed plum cotton outer shell with maroon silk leg of mutton sleeves and machine made lace overlays at the shoulders and cuffs with 2 large carved mother of pearl buttons accents. The bust has a maroon ruffle with 11 bone button back closures. It is lined in black chintz and has only the cotton sheaths from the metal stays left. Laying flat the bodice measures: bust 14'', waist 10.5'', sleeve 22'', length 17 1/4''. The bodice is in fair condition with several homes in the ribbed cotton, toning to the lace, tears and old repairs to the underarms missing metal shanks in the stays, and wear and missing hook and eye at the collar. Also included is 1 late 19th century burgundy velvet day dress featuring three quarter length sleeves, a white lace and silk standing collar, and a mix of handmade lace overlays in different colors including plum over white, and multi colored gold tone metallic lace center panel. As well as burgundy silk cord bars on the sleeves and French knot accents down the back. The bodice has 2 flexible stays and closes in the front with multiple hook and eye closures. It appears it was once lined in white silk which extended as a functional sleeve with plum and metallic lace cuffs which are now detached. The matching skirt features a front insert of layered burgundy sheer silk, metallic lace and then plum lace with silk cord accents down the sides. The skirt is unlined and is missing its waistband. Laying flat the bodice measures: bust 19'', waist 15'', sleeve 18''. Skirt: waist 15'', front length 38'', back length 46''. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
