WWII Japanese Silk Flag, Map, Leaflets Lot
An eclectic mix of objects associated with the World War in Japan. Includes: 1) Silk US pilot's water current map. RESTRICTED NOV-MAR two sided: Okinawa Shima & Parece Vela and Bonin Is. Written in red ink on top: "April 1, 1945 4th MAR Target Okinawa" 2) Framed large format photo Strike. Mitsubishi A/C CO (Nagoya). 9th Photo Tech Sq. RESTRICTED. Dim:19"x22". 3) Leaflets dropped over Japan/ Japanese territory: Framed "I Surrender-Attention American Soldiers" leaflet. Dim:.8-1/2"x11-1/2". Nice overall, Fold creases, minimal foxing. Pair of double sided leaflets dropped all over cities with populations greater than 100K. Dim: 8-1/4" x5-1/2". 4) Silk Japanese National flag. It has normal creases from being stored folded for decades, it shows light age toning and a few areas of very light discoloration. Leather corner tabs with cord are in great shape. Note attached to flag states that it was "captured by 21 Reg. Marines 3rd Division. Given to wounded Marine, and brought home." Dim: 26" x 33". 5) Single page bring back receipt for the purchase of 1 yard of Japanese printed silk by SGT Ben F. Harrison, 34th Infantry. 6) Book, Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. By Capt. Ted W.
