'The Jewish Question' - James Parkes. Oxford 1941

The Jewish Question by James Parkes, Oxford 1941, published by AT THE CLARENDON. A pro-Jewish essay written by a Christian in the midst of World War II and the Holocaust of European Jewry.

An interesting essay in which James Parks discusses the Jewish problem of both bias - the Jewish tradition that distinguishes the Jewish people from the rest of the world and what he calls "The Jewish experience" - the response of the various Nations to the difference of the Jew. The author states that this two bring Hitler and the Nazi regime to supposedly "solve" the Jewish problem by eliminating them, and states that the Zionist "answer" in the form of a national home for Jews in Israel is the only answer to the situation created. An important essay from a pro-Jewish perspective written by a Christian in the midst of the Holocaust.

The author James Parkes [1896-1981], an Anglican cleric, historian, and social activist, he considered to one who saw the foresight early and in the 1920s warned of the disastrous consequences of Nazi ideology. A number of occasions when he himself was exposed to anti-Semitic incidents led him to investigate deeply anti-Semitism in all its forms. Although he was Christian, He was not afraid to express his conclusion that historical Christianity is the main cause of anti-Semitism in all its forms. Published more than 100 articles on the subject, and according to one historian: "- Parks devoted his entire life to the fight against anti-Judaism and to promoting tolerance for Jews." Parks had a large Judaica collection that he donated to the University of Southampton as part of his efforts for tolerance and peace between religions.
