Five Years of My Life. London 1901. First English Edition


'Five Years of My Life' by Alfred Dreyfus - Dreyfus's personal diary written between 1894 and 1899 - during his 5 years of being charged on treason in the French homeland, and serving his sentence on Devils Island. Includes instructive letters, which he wrote to his family and various parties while in prison. The book was published two years after Dreyfus's retrial and acquittal. London 1901, first English edition [translated from French by James Mortimer]. Very rare edition.

With  a portrait photograph of Dreyfus (protected with fragment paper).

345 p.[13] leaves. Original cover designed with gilt lettering. Very good condition.
