A large cabinet photograph of King Edward VII of England

A large and early cabinet photograph of King Edward VII of England in everyday clothes - top coat and top hat. Photographer: HILLS AND SAUNDERS ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHERS OXFORD. c. 1890. Rare.

Edward VII (November 9, 1841 - May 6, 1910) The King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King of the British Commonwealth and British Emperor from January 22, 1901 until his death on May 6, 1910. As regent, Edward held the title "Prince of Wales", a title he carried for nearly 60 years. He was known as "the uncle of Europe", as he had blood ties with almost all the other monarchs in Europe. Edward was considered the epitome of the fashionable and hedonistic aristocracy. He was responsible for cultivating relations between Britain and the rest of Europe, and especially with France, which is why he was called a "peacemaker."
