A collection of documents and certificates of Karl Meir - a Jewish physician in Germany who immigrated to Eretz Israel and served as director of the pediatric ward at Shaare Zedek Hospital under the direction of Dr. Moshe Wallach


A large collection of about 60 certificates and personal documents of Dr. Karl (Aaron) Meir - a Jewish pediatrician born in Nuremberg who immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933 and served as a physician at Shaare Zedek Hospital headed by Dr. Moshe Wallach, and later in a number of hospitals in the country. Appears: Many certificates and documents from his early period of specialization in the medical profession, as well as official certificates and documents after serving as a practicing physician in various cities in Germany וn the 1920s.


Documents:


* 40 official certificates from Meir's period as a pediatrician in various cities in Germany, medical diplomas, certifications of certification and specialization in the various medical professions, certificates of approval to serve as a physician in various hospitals in Germany, and more. The certificates are all printed and filled in by hand, and signed by the German officials. The teens, and the twenties of the 20th century. The certificates are written in German.


* Letter of recommendation to Dr. Meir in the handwriting and signature of Dr. Moshe Wallach at the time he applied for admission as a pediatrician at the Jerusalem National Health Fund in 1941: "I know my friend Dr. A. Meir has been volunteering for about eight years at the clinic of Sha'are Zedek Hospital. The clinic for babies and children has developed very well, dozens of patients pass under his hand every day and he treats them with dedication ... Please make an effort to give him a position at the national hospital, as a person and as a doctor you can definitely trust him ...Dr. M. Wallach."


* A resume he wrote about himself in 1949 when he applied for the position of director of the children's department at the Government Hospital in Haifa (Dajani Hospital), in which he states that he was born in Nuremberg in 1898, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933. He studied medicine in Munich, Ralengen, Wurzburg, Hamburg, and Berlin, and specialized as a pediatrician at three universities, and became a specialist doctor in 1925. In the 1920s he served as a physician at the municipal milk drop in Nuremberg and the General Health Fund. Since immigrating to Israel, he has been the director of the children's and infants' department at Sha'are Zedek Hospital. From 1944 he served as a pediatrician at the "Health fund for national employees", a school physician of 350 students, and a medical supervisor of the "General Orphanage, " and of kindergartens. He also ran the Nursing School at Sha'are Zedek Hospital, and conducted first aid, anatomy and physiology courses at Social Democratic Party hospitals in Germany (One of the pages of his resume contains corrections in Dr. Wallach's handwriting)..


* Certificate attesting to the change of name when he added to the German first name "Karl" the Hebrew name "Aharon" - according to the "Names Law" 1956.


* Hebrew license to practice medicine. August 1950.


* Certificate of a specialist in pediatrics from the Israeli Ministry of Health 1961.
