Doar Ivri envelopes - Rosh HaShanah greetings from Israel - Ben Gurion signatures


"Rosh HaShanah Greetings from Israel" - envelopes with Doar Ivri stamps sent to the Diaspora on behalf of the Jewish National Fund, to which was attached a special greeting sheet from JNF Chairman A. Granovsky, in Elul 1948. The envelopes were sent tone inside the other to the Jews of France with two special pages of greetings on the occasion of "First Rosh HaShana since Israel's independence in our country" one in Hebrew and the other in French. On each of the envelopes before us (which were sent one inside the other together with the two pages of greetings in Hebrew and French) is the signature of Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion.


  • Envelope sized 15x9 cm. With Doar Ivri stamps in denominations 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50, dated 16/5/1948 - stamped with an ink stamp of 'The First Day of Doar Ivri' and a special stamp with a red medallion: "Gift from the Jewish National Fund". Signed by Ben Gurion.

  • Outer envelope measuring 10x18 cm, on which was written: "Rosh HaShanah Greetings from Israel" with a Doar Ivri stamp and an ink stamp dated 22/9/1948, signed by Ben-Gurion.

  • Two pages of greetings from JNF Board of Directors Chairman A. Granovsky - Hebrew and French, which were placed in the small envelope.
