Photographs of Jews from the town of Nowogródek (Novradok), 1930s

17 photographs showing Jews from the town of Nowogródek (Novradok), 1930s.

In the photos: groups of teenagers, family photos and friends. Most of the photographs are described and dated in writing from the period - years: 1936-1938.

The Jewish community in Nowogródek  began in 1484 when King Kazimierz IV of the Guilloto appointed four Jews from the city to collect taxes. In 1888, there were 15 Midrash houses in the city. On July 3, the Germans entered the city and immediately began the gradual murder of Jews and restricting their movement. The Jews were obliged to wear a yellow badge, they were restricted from going outside the city, were forbidden to buy food and they were concentrated in the ghetto. Of all the city's Jews, only 300 remained alive in labor camps.

Different sizes, very good condition.
