1939 NUREMBERG RALLY POSTCARDS UNCUT SHEET
Original uncut sheet of postcards to commemorate the 1939 Nuremberg rally and features three rows of five different cards with six different images. The postcard images include a Hitler Youth member with a flag, the party eagle with a member of the SA and the Wehrmacht, the Nuremberg castle with a Nazi flag and party eagle, a map of Germany with party flags and standards, map of Germany with Nuremberg castle and party flags, and a map of the rally grounds. The 15-postcard sheet is 19.5 x 21.5 inches. Each postcard is 4 x 5.5 inches. The 1939 rally, named 'Rally of Peace', was canceled at short notice, as one day before the planned date, on September 1, Germany began its offensive against Poland and thus started WW2. James Bender's reference book 'Postcards of Hitler's Germany - Volume 2' features an example of this uncut sheet. Due to the shortage of paper at the time, the existing paper stock from the unused postcards was repurposed and recycled, the sheet is sandwiched to another two sheets. A popular artwork was printed on the reverse to be sold to the general public to save valuable resources. The sheet bears a 1-inch tear at the top edge above the second card image from the right. Minor loss at top right corner. Scuffing to the bottom right two cards with a tear on the edge affecting both cards. The remaining twelve cards are in good condition. Usually, these are sold individually at $100 per card, this uncut sheet however is very impressive.
