RARE 1939 NUREMBERG RALLY POSTCARD
Postcard to commemorate the 1939 Nuremberg rally showing a painted collage of a map of Germany with party flags and standards. Postcard 4 x 6 inches. The 1939 rally, named 'Rally of Peace', was canceled at short notice, as one day before the planned date, on September 1, Germany began its offensive against Poland and thus started WW2. James Bender's reference book 'Postcards of Hitler's Germany - Volume 2' features an example of an uncut sheet, which we also sold in a previous auction. Due to the shortage of paper at the time, the existing paper stock from the unused postcards was repurposed and recycled, the sheet is sandwiched to another two sheets. A popular artwork was printed on the reverse to be sold to the general public to save valuable resources.
