XENOPHOBIC WEIMAR REPUBLIC NOTGELDS (7)
Notgeld for Tolstede, printed in 1927. 'This should happen to all those profiteers and Germany would be better off'. Notgeld shows silhouettes of Jews hanging with ravens. 50 pfenning. Set of 6 notgelds for Altenwerder and Finkwarder, printed in 1921. Notgelds feature Stars of David, a personified city of Hamburg as a frog king, taking over other smaller towns. One notgeld commemorates the life of author Gorch Fock, (1880-1916), which the boat Gorch Fock (1933) is named after. 50 pfenning. Approx. 2.5 x 4 inches each.
