First Edition “Agra D’Kallah” Authored by the Bnei Yissaschar; Lemberg, 1868
Explanations and homilies on the Chamisha Chumshei Torah authored by Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Shapira of Dinov, author of Bnei Yissaschar.
There is a signature on the title page from
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bleier, known as ‘Reb Mendel Debtzik’ who was raised by the Bnei Yissaschar.
Background: The Bnei Yissaschar was once traveling near the hometown of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bleier when a sudden storm erupted causing his wagon to fall into a ditch. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bleier’s father came out to help the Bnei Yissaschar retrieve his wagon, when calamity struck, and he was hit by lightning and instantly killed. When the Bnei Yissaschar came to console the grieving widow, he offered to raise her freshly orphaned son. And so it was that Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bleier was raised in the home of the Bnei Yissaschar. The Bnei Yissaschar treated him like a son and married him off when he came of age.
There is another signature from Rabbi Menachem Mendel’s son,
Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Bleier of Munkacz, who was named after the Bnei Yissaschar.
This first edition was published in Lemberg, 1868.
