GUARESCHI Giovannino (1908-1968) - "Molotof, colombo della Pax Sovietica". ca. 1945-48. Vivid caricature, most likely a draft for the "Candido" magazine, which shows the USSR Foreign Minister Vjačeslav Molotov (1890-1986) as a disturbing pigeon holding a gallows in its beak and threatening continental Europe. The drawing refers to the years '45 -'48 when the East block and the countries of the West were dividing Europe and Guareschi led his personal battle against the communist influence through the magazine of Candido of which he was editor. (220 x 330mm). Ink drawing, signed on the top right, pencil caption on the right margin (light staining to left margin), within a modern frame. Provenance: Pelloncini (in pencil in the left margin).
