Yelena Rosin, b. 1974, acrylic on wood, 47 by 47 cm, signed, 2022
Yelena Rosin was born in Gomel in Belarus in 1974. In 1994 she immigrated to Israel. Yelena has been drawing since she can remember. Throughout her life she learned and is learning new techniques and methods to express her thoughts and ideas through art.
Yelena was a student of AXL (Boris Axelrod) - a great painter, philosopher and researcher, who researched and succeeded in modernizing the encaustic technique - an ancient technique of painting with wax colors. We know the Fayum portraits that are thousands of years old but look like they were painted yesterday. AXL taught his students this technique.
In addition to encaustics, Yelena uses many other techniques, such as:
Oil, acrylic, watercolor and graphic techniques such as etching and printmaking. A few years ago, she started studying printmaking in a printmaking workshop at the Tel Aviv Artists' House from Atzel Ilya Bogdanovsky. Since then she has been engaged in permanent printing.
Yelena's art deals with diverse subjects. From a still, clear and precise yet lively illustration, to a free fantasy based on her imagination and sometimes on poetry and books. In recent years she has been engaged in illustration and creating artist stories.
One of the goals is to create modern art using rare and authentic techniques.
Yelena participates in exhibitions and presents her works often. Many of her works are in private collections around the world: Israel, America, Russia, Belarus, Germany and Great Britain, Canada, Denmark.
