"Kolonia Rishon LeZion" – Medal Commemorating the Founding of the Colony – With Portrait of Theodor Herzl
Medallion commemorating the establishment of Rishon LeZion. [Late 19th or early 20th century].
Obverse: View of the Colony of Rishon LeZion, encircled by the Hebrew legend "The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings [Isaiah 41:27] / Kolonia Rishon LeZion, 5642" [= 1882, the year the colony was founded]. Reverse: Portrait of Theodor Herzl encircled by the legend "For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace [Hebrew; Isaiah 62:1] – Dr. Theodor Herzl".
Diameter: 26 mm. Good condition. With suspension ring.
